Our Second Annual Summer Heritage Camp for Children - 'GURUKULAM 2000'
Time:
Monday 10th to Friday 14th from 9AM to 12 noon.
On final day of camp, the children's talent showcase will be held from 7-9PM
(Friday evening).

Venue: First United Methodist Church, Beaverton
The annual
summer heritage camp for children,
The
curriculum includes Yoga, Sanskrit, Basic music, folk dances for boys and girls,
history and geography of India, arts and crafts, henna/ mehendi, Rangoli
patterns, stencils, Shlokams, Epic tales and folk fables of India, Cricket
sport, festivals of India etc.
Five days of fun filled educational heritage camp
for children ages 5 to 18 years. Instructors include artists, and volunteer
teachers from the local community. Art and craft supplies, information material
etc included, snacks/juice will be provided at 10:45am.
Over 60
children attended the camp in the first year and the camp received wide press
acclaim for the focus on children. The children were of Indian, American and
Indo-American descent and all shared a common interest of learning about India.
The Indian children adopted by Americans, found a venue for learning about their
Indian customs, culture and heritage and had a wonderful experience.

Friday 14th June from 6:30-8:30pm.
Music, dances, story telling, reciting passages about India, visual art display, shlokam recital, fashion shows, fancy dress, and poetry reading etc. etc. by the children who attended the camp. All children receive certificate of completion and participation from rasika, presented by the Mayor.
