Odissi is the classical dance style which originated in the state of Orissa.

Nandita Behera, disciple of eminent guru Padmabushan Kelucharan Mahopatra and Sri Gangadhar Pradhan, has emerged as an outstanding artist. She has performed extensively in India, Europe and USA. She is the director of the Odissi Dance Circle, teaching and performing Odissi, in Southern California.

Kathak is a classical dance predominant in North India.

Bhairavi Kumar, a Kathak exponent from Bombay, is one of the most powerful and compelling dancers of today. She combines delicacy and daintiness of the Lucknow Gharana and the vigour and alacrity of the Jaipur Gharana in her dances. She is the director of Nrityodaya Kathak Academy in Southern California.
