A young vocalist, endowed with a powerful and expressive voice, he is storming ahead rapidly to carve a niche for himself in the world of Classical Carnatic music.

RASIKA welcomed T.M. Krishna for his first full concert in Portland & Seattle.


Classical Bharatha Natyam Dance Ballet
'Ananda Tandavam'
The Cosmic Dance of Lord Shiva
Concept, Choreography, Teacher & Principal Dancer: Dr. Jayanthi Raman
Artistic Director: Natya Dance School, Portland

A grand Bharatha Natyam full length dance ballet exploring the various aspects of Lord Shiva - the cosmic dancer and the divine God of dance. Accompanied by live orchestra.

Concert sponsored in part by Individual artist grant for Dr. Raman from 
Regional Arts and Culture Council, RACC, Portland.

The ballet is choreographed in Classical Bharatha Natyam, Kalakshetra style, performed by Jayanthi Raman as principal dancer and guest artist Swarnamalya, along with senior dancers of Natya Dance School. This is a celebratory dance ballet on Lord Shiva, adapting verses of Shivashtakam, Mallari, the famous Swami Dayananda Saraswathi song- ‘Bo Sambo’, the traditional piece - Idadhu Padam and more. Live orchestra of eminent musicians provide classical Carnatic music for the dances. Explanation will be provided for the items performed.

The newly choreographed and innovative piece - Om Namasivaya, is choreographed to English narration, portraying the various divine aspects of Lord Shiva, the cosmic dancer and the Lord of dance. This ballet is an offering to the Lord of dance and is Raman’s eighth ballet production since 1995. The production is an eclectic presentation of spirituality, and artistry of Indian classical music and dance. Research on Lord Shiva done by Portland artist Dr. Jayanthi Raman with grant support from the Regional Arts and Culture Council.
