rasika is honored to announce special Carnatic vocal concert by Dr Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna and troupe for Portland audiences. With a voice covering three octvaes with ease, the maestro is well known scholar. He is not only a versatile Carnatic vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and a playback singer; but he is also acclaimed as a poet, composer and respected by all Indian classical musicians for his knowledge of Carnatic Music. A child prodigy, Balamuralikrishna began his musical career at a very young age, performing since age of eight! By the age of fifteen he had mastered all the 72 melakartha ragas and had composed krithis in the same. RASIKA is honored to bring this legend to Portland.
